Microloan Fund Program
Entrepreneurs and small businesses play a vital role in Miami County’s economy. To provide support and mentoring, the county has established a Microloan Fund.

In addition to receiving financial assistance, potential borrowers are offered assistance completing their business plan, credit counseling and other training specific to the borrower’s needs.

Potential applicants should sign up for a one-on-one session to discuss their loan readiness or attend an informational seminar which reviews the program.

Miami County’s Microloan Fund is designed to help first-time and expanding entrepreneurs who need help funding their project.

Typical borrowers have a business concept and have completed some basic research on its viability. Many know that they must improve their credit score before traditional financing would be approved.

Requested items include:

GETTING STARTED

This program is designed to be flexible. While it can do loans of up to $50,000, it can also help on projects as small as $500.

Potential applicants should be prepared to provide several items. Depending upon the
application, most of the items should be made available during the first loan meeting.

A surprisingly small percentage of your local taxes go to the City.   If you own a $150,000 home your taxes are distributed as follows:

The Honorable David Ruder presides over the Louisburg Municipal Court on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at the City Hall address of 5 S. Peoria Street, Louisburg, KS 66053.

Our Court Clerk, Carol Willey is available on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:00-5:00 pm and can be reached at (913) 837-2355.  Attorney pleas can be made with Prosecutor, Nathan Sutton during court session.  Additionaly, most traffic citations can be paid online at www.louisburgtix.com

If you require special accommodation please provide at least 48 hours advance notice.  In the event of weather related cancellations, a notice will be posted on this web page prior to the regular assigned court time.

Failure to appear for an assigned court date may result in the issuance of an arrest warrant.

The City performs snow removal anytime we receive more than 2 inches of snowfall and the surface temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing for an extended period.  In instances where ice or significant snowfall is imminent, crews will treat streets with a salt/sand mix with interval plowing.  First priority is always given to major streets, schools and emergency response facilities.  Snow removal on K-68 is the responsibility of KDOT, while Metcalf remains the responsibility of Miami County. Sidewalk clearing is the responsibility of each private property owner and is especially appreciated along school walking routes. Unfortunately city crews will not be able to clear residential cul-de-sacs if vehicles are parked within the required turning radius.

The severity of the 2009-2010 winter storms have resulted in eligibility of FEMA assistance for many cities and counties located within the state of Kansas. The City of Louisburg is in the process of submitting for federal recovery assistance.

Your call will be treated anonymously upon request.

Maintenance and upkeep of residential and commercial property serve as a vital component in maintaining property values within our community. It is well known that dilapidated properties result in significant neighborhood divestment and escalation of rental property conversion. If you believe that your neighborhood is suffering from unkempt property, please contact city hall.

The following items are the most common violations reported:

1. Peeling paint

2. Inoperable/ unlicensed vehicles

3. RV’s stored on front lawns

4. Tall grass & weeds

5. Outdoor storage of trash and debris. 

6. Outdoor storage of materials & equipment.

7. Brush piles.

Permits are required for most projects including fences, decks, roofs, remodeling, etc.  Contractors are required to be licensed by Miami County and local excavation licenses are required in many cases.  For further information that applies to your specific project, please contact the Building Department at (913) 837-5811.
